Over the past 18 months, The Centre for Social Impact has made a significant investment in the development of Collective Impact expertise in Australia, sharing knowledge about the model and working towards the development of a community of interest for Australian practitioners.
Social Leadership Australia has been teaching leadership for social change using the Adaptive Leadership approach—which is at the heart of the Collective Impact model—since 2002. Its approach to leadership development includes the central skills of working collaboratively across sectors to make progress on complex issues.
The two organisations bring a depth of experience and credibility to the collaboration space and each has unique strengths to contribute. In 2013 CSI and SLA have formed a partnership to create and deliver a professional development opportunity for existing and emerging Australian Collective Impact practitioners.
At the Centre for Social Impact we believe in a stronger society for all.
We are a collaboration of four universities: the University of New South Wales, Australia; The University of Melbourne; Swinburne University of Technology and the University of Western Australia.
Our vision is for a more effective and responsive social system for Australia: a nation where social challenges are addressed by attacking root causes instead of just the symptoms and where those affected have a say in the solution. We want to see the most sustained and effective change rewarded. We want a nation where solving our biggest problems is a generator of social good and financial value.
We take a systems approach to developing innovative solutions to the biggest social challenges today, with a vision for a better Australia tomorrow. Through our research, education and forums we ensure knowledge translates to advocacy and action.
We create and collaborate with the broadest network of bright minds to make change matter.
Social Leadership Australia is a centre for leadership development which was established by The Benevolent Society in 1999 to develop the capabilities of people with power to address the root causes of social inequity.
Working with more than 500 people a year, Social Leadership Australia is creating better leadership for a better Australia. Better leadership means improving social, economic, environmental and cultural well being of all Australians. We develop leadership capability with purpose. We work with organisations and communities to tackle the big issues. And we create and share thinking that makes people want to lead well.
The Benevolent Society is Australia’s first charity. We are a not-for-profit and non-religious organisation and we’ve helped people, families and communities achieve positive change for 200 years. We help people change their lives through support and education, and we speak out for a just society where everyone thrives.
